Did you know the Texas Veterans Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption, including most fee charges, at public institutions of higher education in Texas.

The Hazlewood act will cover the cost of 150 credit hours! That means you can obtain an Associates Degree a Bachelors Degree. Most people complete both degrees with 120 credit hours so you will have 30 hours remaining to put towards a Masters Degree or MBA.
I wish schools provided more information to veterans when enrolling. I came across this Act after I had completed about a year of school so I didn’t use all of the credits but the great thing about this act is the unused credits can be transferred to a biological child, step-child, adopted child, IRS dependent or a spouse.
I was able to use the credits to obtain an Associates Degree, a Bachelor of Business Administration and part of my MBA with this act.
I have 22 hours remaining and have been able to transfer those credits to my 22 year old son to assist him in his pursuit of a higher education.
